Cecil Kirk
Minister of Pastoral Care

Cecil Kirk, a retired United Methodist minister, is minister of pastoral care at First Methodist. His 40 years of serving as a minister included being campus minister at Murray Sate University, a missionary in Malaysia, executive director of United Methodist Neighborhood Centers of Memphis, and Jackson district superintendent for the Memphis Annual Conference.

Cecil received his bachelor’s degree at Lambuth University, his Master of Divinity degree at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, and his Doctor of Ministry at Vanderbilt University, completing his graduate studies at Cornell University.

Cecil and his wife, Theron, have four grown children: Scott, Michelle, Rev. Dietrich, and Andrew, and four grandchildren. Theron is an associate professor of nursing at Union University.
