T ed Leach
Senior Pastor
Ted has been our Senior Pastor since November 2005. Prior to coming to Jackson, Ted served for 14 years as Executive Minister of the Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. He has been a United Methodist pastor since 1970, when he was a sophomore at the University of Alabama. In 1976, Ted graduated from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology with a Master of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude).
Ted is married to Cathey Barkley Leach, who is completing her 28th year as an elementary school teacher. Ted and Cathey have three grown children: Lindy Dean, Cully Dorer and Robert Leach.
Cathey and Ted enjoy sports, traveling, hiking, and exploring antique stores. One of Ted’s hobbies is writing. Ted has written a book called How Does Reading the Bible Shape My Faith? A Study of Biblical Interpretation and Faith Development. It is scheduled for publication in the Fall, 2006, and is part of Cokesbury’s FaithQuestions series. Ted is a member of the Board of Directors of the Aspell Recovery Center in Jackson.
On Monday through Friday, Ted writes a Daily Devotion for this web site. You can also hear Ted’s one-minute “Perceptions” spots Monday through Friday at 7:40 AM on one of these radio stations: WZDQ (FM 102.3), WWYN (FM 106.9), or WHHM (FM 107.7).
