11:00 Traditional Service in Sanctuary
-------------------
A newcomer to Jackson who prefers a more formal, traditional service recently said, "Your 11:00 worship service is very vibrant."
A long-time member who has attended only the 11:00 service recently worshipped at the 9:00 First Awakening service for the first time and said, "I had no idea it was this good. I really like this service!"
We recommend the 11:00 Sanctuary service if you are looking for a more formal service in a traditional setting with a choir and organ. This service includes printed texts and prayers for congregational participation. The following traditional elements are often included in this service, such as the Lord's Prayer, creeds, responsive readings, anthems and solos. The sermons are biblically based and seek to connect the ancient sacred texts with our daily lives.
We recommend the 9:00 First Awakening service if you are looking for a more casual service. First Awakening gathers in Clayton Hall, which is a few steps from the Sanctuary on the northwest corner of the building (at the intersection of Church and Baltimore). First Awakening features a blend of praise and worship with contemporary music, accompanied by a band of keyboard, guitars and percussion. Congregational music features a group of lead singers and song words projected electronically onto a screen. Media clips are also shown to emphasize the theme of the day. The sermons are biblically based and seek to connect the ancient sacred texts with our daily lives. You're invited to dress casually for the 9:00 First Awakening.
