Music
Children
First United Methodist Church believes that we have a reason to sing! Teaching the love of music and the role of music in a faithful life is one of the most important roles for growing children who believe unashamedly. FUMC provides various avenues for children to explore their faith through music. Please contact Rev. Charlie Overton, Minister of Music and Worship Arts at 731-422-4002 or charlie@jacksonfumc.org for more information on musical events for children.
Mini-Festival
Mini-Festival is an annual week-long musical experience for children in grades one through five. Meeting 9am through 2pm, Monday - Friday, children work together to memorize, stage and perform a dramatic musical based on biblical themes. The week culminates in a staged performance on Sunday at 5pm in Clayton Hall.
Mini-Fest 2008 will be centered on performing "Rescue in the Night," the story of Daniel in the lions' den.
Registration ends June 4, 2008.
Music and Christian Education
During regular Wednesday evening discipleship activities, children in Kindergarten through 5th grade use music as a tool to explore various biblical and faith themes under the direction of Lindsey Patterson. All children's musical groups often work together to present programs to end the academic semesters.
Angel Choir
For children aged three through kindergarten, the Angel choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 5:30pm in Newman Center. Rehearsals mix fun songs that explore biblical texts with games and movement to provide a multi-sensory experience for our pre-school children. This choir leads worship at our 10:50am service each academic semester. The Angel Choir is directed by Lindsey Holloway and Nancy Rahm.
