Adult Bible Studies

New Bible studies begin every September and January—and sometimes in the summer!—and occur throughout the week at FUMC. These studies last anywhere from 6 to 32 weeks.

Disciple Bible Studies

discipleDisciple is an in-depth study that is based on the conviction that the Bible is central to the life of a Christian. Disciple invites persons to bring their experiences and struggles to Scripture, to submit themselves to examination by Scripture, and to be transformed by Scripture. Disciple requires daily reading of the Holy Bible and weekly small group discussion based on careful study and preparation. One or more units of Disciple are offered each season at FUMC.

Disciple I: Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study

This 32-week study moves from Genesis to Revelation, covering more than 70% of the Bible during that time. This basic Biblical overview is a prerequisite for further Disciple classes, for Christian Believer, and for Jesus in the Gospels.

Disciple II: Into the Word, Into the World

This 32-week study of Genesis-Exodus and Luke-Acts follows the same familiar format as Disciple I, with in-depth focus on the four targeted books. Disciple II calls for evaluating and reordering life’s priorities in response to God’s call.

Disciple III: Remember Who You Are

This 32-week study of the prophets and of the letters of Paul is set in both historical and geographical context. Disciple III calls students to remember who they are and whose they are and to place God at the center of all life.

Disciple IV: Under the Tree of Life

This is a 32-week study of Psalms, Wisdom Literature, the Gospel of John, and Revelation. The distinctive character of the Gospel of John will be explored and students will experience a visualization of the book of Revelation, in addition to learning a different psalm each week.

Jesus in the Gospels

This is a 30-week comparison study of the four Gospels. Participants will look at how each writer presents Jesus through events and teachings recorded and will come away with a greater understanding of our Lord and Savior.

Christian Believer

This is a 30-week daily Bible study that uses readings from that Holy Bible and from great Christian theologians throughout the ages to help illuminate the historic doctrines of the Christian faith. Not limited to United Methodist beliefs, Christian Believer is ecumenical in nature and offers understanding of church history and beliefs as a whole.
