On November 9-10, Dr. Amy-Jill Levine will be in Jackson as the guest speaker for FUMC’s second annual Fall Spiritual Renewal and Enrichment Event.
Dr. Levine is the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies at Vanderbilt University. She is a graduate of Smith College, with an M.A. and Ph.D. from Duke University and an honorary Doctor of Ministry from the University of Richmond. Dr. Levine has been awarded grants from the Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Council of Learned Societies. Her most recent publications include The Misunderstood Jew: The Church and the Scandal of the Jewish Jesus and The Historical Jesus in Context.
