About Older Adults
Older Adults are a bridge between our past and our future. They serve as the collective memory of our church’s heritage. By being keepers of the past, they help keep us focused on our dreams for the future. Older Adults greatest value is as a bridge for the future. They share their wisdom, faith, values and gifts with succeeding generations. The role of the Older Adult ministry at First United Methodist Church is to:
- help seniors know they are valued and needed in ministry
- provide opportunities for learning and fellowship
- help find meaning and purpose through building on the identity they established in the first half of life
First United Methodist Church provides opportunities for older adults through Bible studies, a monthly “Adventures in Learning”, special workshops, trips and other outings. Many of the committees and volunteer opportunities involve the older adults in our congregation.
